Yes, I smashed cake in her face!! Lots of fun....but my big news is the following story which happened the morning of her party. Now, sad to say, i am not very good at writing but i submitted the following to our local newspaper. (you'll see why, i just HAD to)On a quiet Saturday evening or early Sunday morning (Sept.14th) someone(s) decided to deface our street with banners of toilet paper hanging from our tree lawn trees. My daughter was having her family over on Sunday to celebrate her 9th birthday. She was excited and couldn’t sleep any longer so she got up around 6:30am. As she walked down the stairs she looked out our window to the front of the house and saw the mess. She told me she got upset then sad but without hesitation she went outside to clean up her yard. Once she was outside she noticed it was not only us but most of her street that was a mess. She came back in the house grabbed a bag and rubber gloves and still in her pjs set out to clean up her neighborhood. And she did just that – she took down all the toilet paper from our yard and from our neighbor’s yards (except for the ones she couldn’t reach). She even cleaned up the common area at the end of our street. At one point someone came out of their house and she had a sudden feeling they might think she was the one who was to blame so she started to walk toward home. The person went back into their house and she went back to cleaning up. I would guess it’s about 20 houses, which means about 40 tree lawn trees, and the common area which she said they really messed up. I was still sleeping whilst all this was going on. When I awoke and she told me of her busy morning I was stunned, shocked, and of course a bit upset because of this day and age scary things happen but after that moment and ever since I have been nothing but proud. I am a big advocate of random acts of kindness and the goodness will spread. I believe her actions, unprovoked by anything other than her pride of her neighborhood and respect for her friends and neighbors should be honored, applauded and emulated.

That is a beautiful and inspiring story Cheryl Ann. You should feel justly very proud of that little girl of yours. To be so public spirited and aware at that age is nothing less than exceptional and very very precious. Give her a very big hug and a kiss from me. It's a refreshing change to see the young generation cleaning up and caring about their part of the world. In this day and age where so many kids just chuck away their litter willy nilly and destroy things, she has shown the world that not all youngsters are like that..well done to Amy you must have swelled with pride..
